FAQS

WHO ARE WE?

Allegra Singers is a group of ladies who just love to sing and enjoy every rehearsal and performance.  There is no audition to join the only criteria is that you love singing as much as we do!

IN HOW MANY PARTS DO YOU SING?

We mostly sing in 3 parts but have been known to split into 4 or even 5 parts.  There are occasional solos for anyone that feels brave enough to sing on their own but these are not compulsory we just want everyone to feel confident and have fun!

HOW MANY ARE IN THE CHOIR?

We currently have around 22 members.  We are happy to welcome newcomers please contact us in advance if you would like to sing with us.

WHERE DO YOU REHEARSE?

We rehearse at the new Sport Pavillion in Islip, Northamptonshire. The Pavillion is located adjacent to the football and cricket pitches in Islip and can be accessed from Tolbar Road. The facilities there are superb including a lovely rehearsal/function room and fully equipped kitchen.

WHEN DO YOU  REHEARSE?

We rehearse from 7.30 - 9.30pm every Wednesday evening.  We have a short tea/coffee break half way through the rehearsal and never say no to a slice of cake!

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

The rehearsals are just £3.00.  We usually ask for each half term to be paid up front where possible.

WHAT SONGS DO YOU SING?

See our Music page for a full song list.  We sing anything from 60s favourite like Downtown by Petula Clarke to more modern tracks by Lady Gaga, Kelly Clarkson and One Direction.  We also sing songs from the shows like I Dreamed a Dream from Les Miserables and Seasons of Love from Rent.

DO YOU SING IN PUBLIC?

Absolutely! We have done a number of major concerts in both the Masque Theatre in Barton Seagrave and The Plaza in Thrapston.  We have also done a number of smaller concerts - for the WI and the Over 60s club in Cranford and the Thrapston Ladies Club.  We have also performed at the Thrapston Charter Fair and the Thrapston Christmas Lights switch on.
